PREPARATION OF LaCl3 AND NdCl3 DILUTE SOLUTIONS IN MOLTEN EQUIMOLAR NaCl-KCl MIXTURE
Experimental results on direct chlorination of lanthanum (III) and neodymium (III) oxides in a molten equimolar NaCl-KCl mixture depending on the chlorination time and crucible material are presented. The resulting dilute solutions of REM chlorides can be used for spectral studies and a number of other electrochemical works. The method has two significant advantages: water vapor does not appear at any stage of synthesis and low hygroscopicity of the resulting mixtures.
