Today the volume of the production sector of the penitentiary system amounts to billions of rubles, which can directly affect the economic component of the Russian Federation. The need to develop supporting tools at such a scale is vital solution for the ongoing maintenance of activities and subsequent development of the production sector of the penitentiary system. The current trends in the development of information systems and software were analyzed. It has been established that software development is increasingly carried out using web technologies and cloud data storage. An analysis of current trends in the use and growth of popularity of programming languages was carried out. The possibilities of applicability of actively developing libraries for the development of information systems in the penitentiary system were explored. Focusing on current trends in the field of software development, the solutions and approaches for the development and deployment of information systems for the production sector of the penitentiary system were proposed.
