THE GEOMETRIC DETAILING LEVEL EFFECT ON THE RESULTS OF AERODYNAMIC PROCESSES' MODELING
Nowadays scientific research in the field of architectural and structural aerodynamics is mainly based on the simplification of local geometric features of the examined objects. At the same time, computational and physical-mechanical factors of similarity of objects to their numerical models are emphasized as criteria for assessing the accuracy of numerical experiments. It is proposed to extend the list of similarity factors by using the concept of the level of geometry of the computational model. It is emphasized that there is no connection between the level of detail and the discretization rate of the computational space grid used for numerical calculation by the finite element method. Numerical simulation of wind effects on the models in six different settings is performed, taking into account geometric factors of their similarity to the object under study: the influence of low, medium and high model detailing on the character of aerodynamic pressure distribution and air flows for two angles of wind attack is evaluated. Based on the flow pattern of the models, the aerodynamic comfort in pedestrian zones near the object is assessed, and the relationship between the results obtained and the geometric detailing of the models is evaluated. In conclusion, recommendations on the choice of the level of geometry acceptable for specific design problems are formulated: determination of pedestrian comfort, general calculation of vertical and horizontal building structures for wind effects, calculation of local structural units, fastenings of roof elements for peak wind loads. Promising directions for further research are outlined.
