Dioctophymosis ( Dioctophyme renale ) on a canine patient with concomitant cardio‐circulatory disorders
Abstract Dioctophymosis is associated with the ingestion of Dioctophyme renale , a nematode that has the kidney as its organ of preference for parasitism. Even though it has a worldwide distribution, this disease has a higher incidence in regions surrounded by large bodies of water. The present case report shows a canine patient with cardiac alterations due to a kidney dysfunction caused by D. renale and it also reports the patient's elimination of an adult parasite, which is rarely described in the literature.
