Design of Underground Structure Cover With Self-Complementary Slits for Wireless Telecommunication Application

Developing the underground structure cover involves designing a sewer water level detection system aimed at flood prevention. A key challenge in this design is ensuring that the metal cover minimally obstructs the signal emitted by the antenna placed in the underground structure. In this study, we enhanced signal transmission through the cover by incorporating self-complementary slits. A water level sensor, connected to an antenna beneath the cover, is used to monitor water levels. We modeled, simulated, and measured the underground structure to determine the antenna's performance characteristics. The antenna successfully transmitted water level data through the slits in the cover, with outdoor measurements confirming that the cover performed as anticipated.
