From Package Thermal Measurements to Material Characterization: A Remote Phosphor Aging Test
The instruments available in our laboratory basically define the measurement and testing options that can be performed. Acquiring new instruments is usually either expensive, time-consuming, or faces administrative constraints, but the average researcher typically encounters all three of these. In the AI-Twilight H2020 project at the Department of Electron Devices of BME, the task was the multi-domain characterization and reliability testing of LEDs, but in the meantime, the need to test LEDs at the component level also arose. As a result, a remote phosphor characterization and lifetime test was launched with the inventive use of the available instrumentation. In this paper, the implementation of a material test with a remote phosphor arrangement is presented using the available LED characterization equipment according to the JEDEC JESD51-5x standards and the CIE 225:2017 Technical Report.
