Inserción curricular de simulación en la Licenciatura en Enfermería para el uso seguro de medicamentos

he medication process has been identified as a critical event in patient safety, and the health professional must have the competencies for do it correctly. The objective of this work is the Simulation Curricular insertion for the development of professional competences for safe medication in nursing degree curriculum. The fourteen steps to introduce clinical simulation in the Nursing Degree curriculum from the Nursing and Obstetrics Faculty (FENO-UNAM) was used as methodology. In the exploratory phase, the study plan was analyzed to identify issues related to patient safety and the safe medication process in the subjects, in addition to the knowledge and skills that are promoted. Curricular flexibility allows the introduction of optional subjects that integrate clinical simulation as a strategy, having physical and human resources for this. As a result, an elective subject was developed that will be inserted in the second year, with theoretical-practical resources, 6 credits and 64 hours. The theoretical component has 5 units and were designed 5 practices, with simulation activities focus on patient safety in medication process, in adition to the formative, summative and accreditation evaluation criteria were developed. We conclude about the curricular insertion focused on promoting the medication process focused on patient safety, as an effective strategy proposal with the purpose is developing skills and attitudes promoving patient safety and meets the recommendations of the WHO, where the need to strengthen nursing professional training has been highlighted, we believe that educators should develop or design curricula focusing on patient safety.
