Biocontrol of Potato Black Scurf by <i>Trichoderma atroviride</i> <scp>SN</scp> ‐T.at016 Dependent on Antagonism and Mycoparasitism With <i>Rhizoctonia solani</i> <scp>AG</scp> ‐3
ABSTRACT Potato black scurf, as a soilborne disease, is a persistent problem in potato production regions worldwide and is difficult to control in production. In this study, Trichoderma atroviride SN‐T.at016 was selected and found to have an inhibition rate on the growth of Rhizoctonia solani AG‐3 of 82.4%, with volatile and nonvolatile substances showing inhibition rates of 52.5% and 49.4%, respectively. T. atroviride SN‐T.at016 revealed mycoparasitic ability, with the ability to coil around and penetrate the hyphae of R. solani AG‐3. The highest control efficiencies of T. atroviride SN‐T.at016 chlamydospore suspension against stem canker and black scurf of potato were 48.3% and 55.6%, respectively, under potted conditions in the greenhouse. The highest yield increase of potato with T. atroviride SN‐T.at016 treatment was 4.5%.
