Advances in transcription factors of Malvaceae plants
<p indent="0mm">Malvaceae plants play an important role in the economy and ecosystem, such as cotton, cacao and jute. These plants are not only important sources of fibre, food and medicine, but also indispensable to global agriculture and industry. Transcription factors (TFs) are the core components of gene regulatory networks, which can regulate the expression of genes to control the development, cell differentiation, metabolism and stress response of organisms, thus affecting a variety of biological processes. The study of TFs not only helps to analyse the function of plant genes, but also provides an important theoretical basis and application potential for improving the yield, resistance and quality of crops. In the past few decades, significant progress has been made in the study of TFs in Malvaceae plants. In this paper, through the study of TFs within the family and combined with bioinformatics analysis, we summarised the total number of TFs and the percentage of each type of TFs in ten representative species of Malvaceae, and elaborated on the biological functions of three important TF families, MYB, bHLH and ERF. We also provided an outlook on the future research direction of these TFs.
