TECHNOCRATIC ATTITUDE TO LIFE AND DEATH: THE ETHICAL REALITIES OF MODERN HEALTH PROTECTION

The subject of the study is to comprehend the transformation of the value of life, death and health in the context of the intensive development of modern biotechnologies. Technologies influence all spheres of life, including medicine. However, today we can talk not about the progress of medical technology, which is positive in itself, but about the formation of a technocratic attitude towards the fundamental issues of human existence, in particular, to health. The biohacking analyzed by the author shows that technocratic development has affected the ethical and anthropological foundations of modern human, modifying the traditional hierarchy of meaningful life values. Health care ceases to be the norm of a natural attitude towards oneself, becoming a form of psychopathology that distorts human dignity. This phenomenon is based on fictitious ideas about the "imperfect" biological nature of human, which is the cause of illnesses and human misfortunes in general. At the same time, questions about the norm of ideal health, the existence of this norm, as well as the meaning of life in moral and spiritual dimensions are never raised. The novelty of the article lies in the substantiation of the idea that the technocratic attitude to life, based on hedonistic values, is today not just a priority, but a meaning-forming one. The last hope of modern human is artificial intelligence, which will be able to perform miracles and overcome old age, illness and death. In this regard, the author identifies the goals of transhumanism with biohacking practices. The results obtained shows that this immortal utopia of modern times, when implemented, causes both physiological and psychological damage to the individual. The author interprets the desire to go beyond anthropological boundaries as a form of modern melancholy, in which the existential exhaustion of the most traditional form of human has manifested itself. The situation requires the revival of a full-fledged ethical and philosophical discourse, the ideals of classical humanism, in the light of which the uniqueness of the existential and spiritual dimensions of human existence is revealed.
