Statistical properties of a partially coherent radially polarized beam with elliptical vortex structure in oceanic turbulence
Using the extended Huygens-Fresnel integral method, we have derived an analytical formula for the cross-spectral density matrix of a partially coherent radially polarized (PCRP) beam with elliptical vortex structure, (i.e., PCRP elliptical vortex beam, partially coherent radially polarized elliptical vortex (PCRPEV) beam) propagating through oceanic turbulence. We have investigated the statistical properties of PCRPEV beams under oceanic turbulence, including the evolution of average intensity, degree of coherence (DOC), and degree of polarization. The study reveals that PCRPEV beams experience degradation in intensity distribution with a rotational trait due to oceanic turbulence. The lower the temperature dissipation rate, the larger the kinetic energy dissipation rate, and the more dominant the influence of temperature relative to salinity, as well as the PCRPEV beam with lower ellipticity and larger topological charge, the slower the degradation rate of the PCRPEV beam. Moreover, the intensity distribution for the lower ellipticity and the DOC distribution are determined by topological charge, which implies a method for measuring topological charge can be obtained. These findings are of great significance for the development of fields such as underwater wireless optical communication.
