Smart Campus: A Bibliometric Analysis
Smart campus has become a global concept in university development utilizing information and communication technology. This study analysed smart campus research trends using bibliometric analysis of 1,171 publications from the Scopus database (2000-2023). Results showed an increasing publication trend, particularly from 2014 to 2021, indicating growing research interest. Asian countries, especially China, dominated publications and citations, signalling high enthusiasm among Asian researchers. Co-occurrence keyword analysis revealed five clusters, with popular topics such as smart city, Internet of Things, big data, information management and students. Rarely studied topics were smart environments and intelligent systems. The results provided insights into smart campus research development in topics, author collaborations, country contributions and keyword usage as future research directions in this emerging field. The rapid growth underscores the smart campus as a promising research area for further exploration.
