THE MASK IN THE AGE OF DIGITALIZATION: BETWEEN THE VISUALIZATION OF THE SACRED AND THE INVISIBILITY OF THE TRUE

The article analyses a number of religious and philosophical meanings of the mask phenomenon, considered on the basis of its interpretation in various epochs (starting from the archaic, ending with modernity). The author focuses on two levels of understanding the subject of hidden meanings, on ‘the visualisation of the sacred and the invisibility of the true’. The methodological basis of the work is the approaches of C. Lévi-Strauss, N. Luhmann, M. Eliade based on the etymology of the mask phenomenon as a "mediator of the visible and invisible" for society. This allows us to consider the components of the mask as an "unmarked state" concept related to human identity and social change in a digital society.
