THE SOVIET THEATER: CULTURE, ETHICS, IDEOLOGY

The article examines the phenomenon of the Soviet theater, presented as a synthesis of its three components: artistic, moral and ideological. The Soviet theatre is an integral part of Soviet culture, the attitude towards which has been improving markedly in recent times. The author pays special attention to the moral aspect of theatrical activity, which had a great educational function, largely lost in the post-Soviet period. The article shows that outstanding figures of Soviet theatrics, such as K. S. Stanislavsky, A. Ya. Tairov, G. A. Tovstonogov and others, proceeded from the understanding of the high moral mission of the Russian theater, rooted in Russian literature and philosophy. Using the example of the Kaluga Youth Theater, the author reveals the significance of children's theater for the formation of the cultural environment of a modern Russian city, its spiritual and moral component.
