Turnover In NDT A Threat to Future Generations and the Health of the Industry
Nondestructive testing (NDT) relies on various physics-based techniques to measure and evaluate the quality, safety, and integrity of materials, components, and infrastructure. Despite its critical role and growing demand, the field faces a significant challenge: high turnover among technicians. While turnover is already a pressing issue, women face additional challenges that further compound the problem, making retention even more difficult. It is essential to not only bring attention to this growing threat but also become part of the solution. This article explores the current state of the industry, identifies key factors contributing to turnover, assesses its industry-wide impact, and proposes sustainable solutions for retaining skilled professionals in these critical roles.
