Design and Implementation of the $\alpha\text{Nx}$ Converter: A Hybrid Buck Converter with Voltage Multiplier Circuit
This paper introduces the <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\alpha \text{Nx}$</tex> converter, a novel hybrid DC-DC converter designed to enhance the performance of renewable energy systems. The proposed converter integrates a buck converter stage with a voltage multiplier circuit to achieve step-down and step-up voltage conversion while addressing the control challenges commonly associated with traditional converters, such as the buck-boost topology. By eliminating the right half-plane zero in continuous conduction mode, the <tex xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">$\alpha \text{Nx}$</tex> converter offers improved dynamic performance and allows for utilizing simple control techniques. The proposed converter also offers enhanced voltage gain, which makes it ideal for applications that require stable and efficient power conversion. Simulation results and hardware implementation demonstrate the converter's ability to control varied input circumstances and highlight its potential in renewable energy systems.
