Cost-Effective Safety-Related Fieldbus-Interface for Actuators in Automation
The approach introduces a cost-effective technique that has been proven with safety encoders for safety-related actuators. The method is based on standard fieldbuses with an additional safety communication layer (e.g. PROFIsafe or Safety over EtherCAT) and independent diverse-redundant processing of these safety protocols. The technology presented can be used to design functionally safe servo drives that require quality management but do not require safety certification for cobots and autonomous mobile robots.
