Analysis of bonding sheath methods of cables in multi-circuit systems of renewable energy parks
This paper explores induced voltage variations across cable sheaths in multi-circuit systems, specifically focusing on configurations with up to five circuits in a trefoil layout within trenches. We examine how different cable sheath bonding methods affect ampacity calculations for medium voltage cables used in renewable energy parks. Our study reveals that cross-bonding is a effective method for increasing cable ampacity despite requiring additional civil and electromechanical work. In comparison, solid bonding necessitates larger trench dimensions to achieve similar performance, which may lead to higher costs. Further-more, when the cross-bonding method is used, our analysis demonstrates that the highest induced voltage occurs in the outer circuit, particularly with phase C, which is closest to other circuits. These insights are essential for optimizing electrical design in renewable energy parks and addressing the thermal challenges associated with high circuit densities.
