Assessing power quality in DC rapid charging
The growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) has heightened the demand for reliable DC rapid charging stations and accurate metering systems. This study explores electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and power quality challenges observed in AC metering, focussing them to DC disturbances propagating between chargers and EVs building on the existing measurement framework for power quality in AC. Measurements from three DC rapid chargers revealed that, under the conditions tested, DC disturbances were low amplitude. Disturbances at 35 kHz and 53 kHz were identified, likely corresponding to charger switching frequencies.
