BIOTESTING OF SOILS ADJACENT TO THE INDUSTRIAL WASTE LANDFILL OF A LARGE PETROCHEMICAL ENTERPRISE
The chemical industry has a huge impact on the habitat destruction. At the same time, the danger is not only the pollutants themselves entering the environment, but also their transformed compounds enhancing the toxic effect. The target of environmental monitoring is the necessity to develop complex integrated methods for quality control of a number of environmental objects (water, soil and air), allowing to assess their quality, as well as the possible danger of various sources of pollution. The aim of research is to assess the ecological state of soils in the vicinity of an industrial waste landfill of a large petrochemical plant near Mikhailovka village, Sterlitamak District, Republic of Bashkortostan, using biological testing methods. Biological testing was carried out on soil contaminated with industrial waste. Samples were collected from prepared sampling sites from the industrial waste landfill. As a result of the studies, it was established that the soils adjacent to the waterside contained excess maximum permissible concentrations of Cu and Zn. The lowest germination of peas was recorded near the pit, as the distance increased, the samples demonstrated the highest germination rate. Radish showed a higher sensitivity to pollution.
