From orphanage to evil: How Lord Voldemort was born: An exploration of the fictional Lord Voldemort, with psychoanalytic consideration of his ancestry, conception, and index offence
J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter novels have found unparalleled, record-breaking success. With over six hundred million copies sold worldwide, Harry Potter is the most successful book series in history. Born Tom Marvolo Riddle, Lord Voldemort is the ultimate villain and nemesis to Harry Potter. Voldemort's index offence was committed during adolescence, at the age of sixteen years. It was a brutal act of mass-murder in which he killed his father and both of his paternal grandparents. Voldemort's fictional narrative will be examined from a forensic–psychoanalytic perspective with reference made to Freud's Oedipus complex.
