Rodzina dziecka głuchego w ujęciu systemowym w świetle Modelu Kołowego D. H. Olsona badania z perspektywy słyszących matek
The functioning of the family system is the foundation of the psychological development of the child, also the deaf child, and co-determines the effectiveness of hearing and speech rehabilitation. The purpose of this study is to answer the question of how families with a deaf child function in light of D. H. Olson's Circumplex Model as compared to families in the Polish general population, and whether there is a relationship between the cohesion and flexibility of the studied family systems and family communication, satisfaction with family life, and satisfaction with life overall, as well as selected sociodemographic and child’s deafness-related factors. The study included mothers of children with prelingual deafness provided with one cochlear implant. The FACES-IV questionnaire in Polish adaptation was used. It was obtained that the balanced cohesion and flexibility of the studied families remain at the level of families from the general population, while the dimensions of imbalance: disengaged, chaotic and rigid are elevated, and satisfaction with family life is lower than in the normalization group. Cohesion and flexibility are in correlation with family communication, family life satisfaction and life satisfaction overall except for the dimension of rigidity.
