INCLUSIVE AND SUSTAINABLE COLLABORATION IN MANAGING RESOURCES USING IONIC LIQUID

The increase in waste streams from diverse anthropogenic activities is a growing problem globally. This study aims to investigate opportunities for inclusive and sustainable collaboration as a unifying approach to managing resources. The methodology used is a novel solvent 1-(2-cyanoethyl)-3-methylimidazolium bromide in separating oil-contaminated soils or minimising hydrocarbon pollution, thus maximising resource reuse. The findings from the laboratory research showed that hydrocarbon can be extracted from contaminated soil using an imidazolium ionic liquid (cyanoMIMBr-IL). The study concluded that such an innovative approach can be scaled up to address environmental issues relating to hydrocarbon pollution to respond to spill incidents in collaboration with the communities. It is recommended to create a mechanism for recycling and tackling environmental degradation using green solvents in a multidimensional approach for achieving resource reuse and management.
