Waarom doen we dit eigenlijk zo? Een agenda voor reflectie op het functioneren van de lokale veiligheidsdriehoek

Why do we do it this way? An agenda for reflection on the functioning of the local safety triangle Little is laid down in legislation and regulations about the design and organisation of the triangular consultation in which the mayor, the public prosecutor and the police chief in the Netherlands make agreements about the deployment of the police and about local safety priorities. This offers room for customisation, but it is only used to a limited extent. The existing consultation structures and ways of working have usually grown historically, and mayors, the Public Prosecution Service (‘Openbaar Ministerie’) and police do not often take the time to (jointly) reflect on their working methods. There is a need for that conversation: ‘Why are we doing it this way?’ In this essay, based on expert meetings and interviews, we offer a practical agenda for reflection that helps to have that conversation.
