Model Predictive Voltage Control Strategies for Two-Level Voltage Source Inverters
Model Predictive Control has emerged as a good alternative for the control of power converters. In this paper, variable and fixed switching frequency model predictive voltage control strategies are presented and analysed for an isolated load. In the fixed frequency scheme, a lower sampling frequency is required to achieve an AC voltage with a total harmonic distortion (THD) less than 5% but with a higher switching frequency compared to the variable frequency operation case. The results done in the simulation show that adding operational constraints to the filter current reduces AC voltage oscillations during transients, without affecting the performance of the voltage control.
