PSO model for transmission expansion planning considering renewable generation
The high insertion of renewable generation in power systems influences the transmission expansion planning problem. In this paper, the uncertainty of renewable generation will be represented and included in the DC power flow model of power systems. This paper will solve the transmission expansion problem through a self-adaptive PSO model, minimizing the generation operating costs and investment costs in transmission lines in the long term. The model is validated and tested on the 6-bus Garver System. This model can be used to plan the transmission grid in power systems that are in energy transition towards renewable generation sources.
