Free and forced vibration analysis of functionally graded composite beam with graphene filler reinforcement—experimental and simulation study
Abstract This paper presents a comprehensive study on the free and forced vibration analysis of functionally graded material (FGM) beams with graphene filler reinforcement. Functionally graded materials (FGM), also referred to as advanced composite materials, are widely used in thermal and vibration applications. Because ordinary composites feature a very steep transition interface that might cause delamination, they have many advantages over regular composite materials. On the other hand, FGMs can prevent delamination because of their interface's progressive variation. The dynamic properties of functionally graded beams reinforced with different combinations of graphene fillers were thoroughly studied in this work. Our work yields trustworthy results through the combination of experimental studies and numerical analysis. The elastic properties were estimated using (ASTM D3039) and (ASTM D3518). The approach's reliability was further validated by the good agreement between the experimental and numerical results. Research findings indicated that the use of FGM as a material improved the beam's vibration behavior. Highlights Graphene with matrix solution was prepared for 0.25%, 0.50%, and 0.75%. Fabrication of beams for 0°, 45°, and 90° orientation of glass fiber was done. Free vibration analysis was done experimentally and numerically. Forced vibration was done Numerically. Modal analysis was done using ANSYS and compared to the experimental analysis.
