Preparation and performance study of rapid curing polyurethane paint
The efficient curing of polyurethane paints is crucial for their application in various industries. In an experimental study, polyether polyol was chosen as the soft segment of polyurethane, whereas isophorone diisocyanate was selected as the hard segment from the isocyanate group. Additionally, 1,4-butanediol as a chain extender, and dibutyltin dilaurate as a catalyst. This study aimed to investigate the impact of catalyst content and the hard-to-soft segment content ratio on the curing time of the system, with the goal of preparing polyurethane paints that cure rapidly at room temperature. The morphological characteristics of the samples were examined using infrared spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy, which confirmed the successful preparation of the fast-curing polyurethane paints. The mechanical properties of paints were assessed using an electronic universal testing machine. Furthermore, the thermal properties were evaluated through thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry, which demonstrated that the rapid curing polyurethane paints exhibited thermal stability.
