A Survey on Blockchain Technology in Food Supply Chain Management
Integrating blockchain technology into the traditional food chain holds promise for increased transparency, traceability, and security. This review begins with an overview of blockchain fundamentals, including its principles, different types of blockchains, the Secured Hashing Algorithm-256 encryption algorithm, and the consensus process that ensures data integrity, fairness, and trust. We then focus on the challenges of integrating blockchain technology into existing food products, such as efficiency, collaboration, high costs, and changes. We explore solutions and show how blockchain can address these issues and increase the performance and reliability of the food supply chains. Finally, we present several open questions and new studies that demonstrate the future potential and impact of blockchain in changing the food supply chain. The goal of this article is to provide critical insights into the opportunities and challenges of integrating blockchain into the food industry while setting guidelines for future research.
