An Autoethnography on Experience of Self-Differentiation during Counseling Training of a Pastor’s Wife
This study explores the perspective of a pastor‘s wife on the church through the lens of self-differentiation. It seeks to narrate the experience of emotional fusion within the church as a pastor's wife and the self-differentiation journey during counseling training through an autoethnographic approach. According to this study, the characteristics of a pastors' wife' self-differentiation experiences are as follows:1) The pastor's wife seeks to find the individuality of faith in God through inward reflection rather than the demands of the outside world. 2) The pastor's wife experiences subjectivity and autonomy based on an expanded identity through counseling training. 3) The pastor's wife moves from dualistic thinking to flexible thinking. 4) The pastor's wife recognizes the triangular relationship and raises the level of self-differentiation through willful choice. This study will contribute to provide a foundational data for Christian implications that awaken the cultural collective thinking and emotions prevalent within Korean churches.
