O IMPACTO DO MICROBIOMA INTESTINAL NA PROGRESSÃO E TRATAMENTO DA ESTEATOSE HEPÁTICA NÃO ALCOÓLICA (NASH): UMA REVISÃO ATUALIZADA

Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) is a growing liver condition strongly associated with obesity and insulin resistance. Recently, the gut microbiome has emerged as a critical factor in its progression and treatment. This review explores the mechanisms by which the microbiome influences liver inflammation. Factors such as diet, lifestyle and antibiotic use alter the composition of the microbiome, affecting the severity of NASH. Advanced diagnostic methods allow for detailed analysis of the microbiome, identifying potential biomarkers for NASH. Therapeutic interventions, including probiotics, prebiotics, and fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT), show significant promise. Clinical studies indicate that modulating the microbiome can reduce liver inflammation and improve insulin resistance. This article concludes with a discussion of future prospects and emerging areas of research, underlining the importance of novel microbiome-focused therapies for the effective management of NASH.
