The Influence of Storybooks on the Use of Tense and Wh-words

This study investigates the impact of storybook-based grammar instruction on middle school students’ reading skills and affective domains, focusing on tenses and interrogatives. Conducted over eight weeks with 60 students, the research compared an experimental group using storybooks to a control group taught traditionally. Findings showed that storybook-based instruction significantly improved reading comprehension, engagement, and confidence. Students demonstrated better understanding of grammar, greater enjoyment, and reduced anxiety. The interactive nature of storybooks fostered active participation and collaboration. These results highlight storybooks as an effective tool for enhancing both linguistic proficiency and emotional development in language learning.
