Assessing the Impact of Price Fluctuations on Profit Margins: A Quantitative Study of Vegetable Sellers in Sokoto Metropolis

This study investigates the impact of price fluctuations on the profit margins of vegetable sellers in Sokoto Metropolis using a quantitative research approach. Data were collected through structured surveys administered to 385 vegetable sellers across four local governments: Sokoto North, Sokoto South, Wamakko, and Dange Shuni. The analysis revealed a significant negative correlation between price fluctuations and profit margins, with seasonal trends, transportation costs, and supply chain inefficiencies identified as the primary contributors. Sellers reported reduced profitability during periods of price instability, with peak seasons presenting the highest risks. The study emphasizes the need for government interventions, including price regulation, improved transportation infrastructure, and financial support, to stabilize the market and enhance the sustainability of vegetable businesses. These findings provide critical insights for policymakers and stakeholders seeking to improve the economic playfulness of small-scale vegetable sellers in Sokoto Metropolis.
