IMPROVEMENT OF OIL SPILL RESPONSE AT SEA

Effective elimination of oil spills at sea remains a key task for environmental safety and protection of marine ecosystems. This article discusses modern methods and promising technologies aimed at improving the cleanup process during emergency oil spills. The limitations of traditional methods, including the use of booms, chemical dispersants and bioremediation, which, despite their effectiveness, have disadvantages such as dependence on weather conditions, toxicity and duration of the process, are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to new approaches, the use of nanomaterials to create sorbents with high adsorption capacity and the development of sustainable bioremediants. The proposed innovations can significantly increase the efficiency and speed of cleaning, as well as minimize the negative impact on the marine environment. The author suggests using multi-criteria assessments to select the optimal method, which takes into account environmental and economic aspects. The introduction of new technologies contributes to an integrated approach to the elimination of oil spills and the reduction of long-term damage to nature. The use of the proposed technologies will speed up the elimination process, reduce costs and ensure sustainable development of the marine ecosystem. Keywords: oil spills, spill response, environmental safety, bioremediation, nanomaterials, autonomous systems, monitoring, automation.
