REVOLUTİONİZİNG KİCK MANAGEMENT İN MANAGED PRESSURE DRİLLİNG: THE ROLE OF MACHİNE LEARNİNG AND CASE STUDİES
Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) is an innovative technique that effectively controls downhole pressure, reduces downtime, and improves drilling productivity in challenging conditions. This paper reviews the fundamentals of MPD, emphasizing its importance in maintaining stable bottomhole pressure (BHP) within narrow tolerances to avoid kickouts, mud losses, and borehole instability. It discusses various MPD techniques, including constant bottomhole pressure (CBHP) and pressurized mud cap drilling (PMCD), which have proven their effectiveness in high-pressure, extreme temperature (HPHT), and aggressive H2S environments. It also highlights how MPD can improve drilling safety and accuracy by regulating backpressure and minimizing formation disturbances. It also discusses modern technology advancements, including automated pressure monitoring systems and machine learning algorithms to detect anomalies in real time, significantly reducing the likelihood of accidents. Case studies validate the effectiveness of MPD, demonstrating benefits such as increased rate of drilling (ROP), reduced unscheduled operations, and improved field development efficiency. As drilling conditions become more challenging, technology continues to improve, delivering well reliability, increased productivity, and reduced operational risk.
