Immersive Reality in Industrial Training: A Case Study with Welding Robots
This study integrates immersive reality technology to create a robot training simulation program utilizing virtual reality techniques. The simulation program is specifically designed to train individuals to acquire basic knowledge of robot welding technology. Key components covered within the simulation include robot orientation, control, and maintenance. The training model was developed on the Unity platform. Trainees can access the training lessons using VR goggles with a controller to enhance the immersive reality experience of working with welding robots. The ABB IRB 1520ID serves as the case study, with the robot model and exercises developed based on its user guide. The expanded training program was tested by a group of testers on its usability and performance. Feedback from testers indicated an excellent understanding of robot parts and equipment, control systems, and maintenance procedures. Additionally, testers expressed high satisfaction with the training program's usability. Overall, the training program utilizing immersive reality technology demonstrates usability, accessibility, efficiency in training, enhanced safety measures, and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional training methods.
