Abstract

• Bluetooth-enabled, miniaturized electrochemical measurement platform for POCT. • Performs several electrochemical measurements including CA, CV, SWV, and DPV. • 99.6% more cost-effective, 90% reduction in size and weight vs. commercial devices. • Features a 16-bit ADC, 400 kSPS sampling rate, and low power consumption (66 mW) • Compact and lightweight, with > 90 % accuracy and R 2 > 0.97 across multiple methods. This study presents the development of UTL-Stat, a Bluetooth-enabled, multifunctional electrochemical measurement platform designed for compactness, ease of use, affordability, and precise analytical performance. The system supports chronoamperometry (CA), cyclic voltammetry (CV), square wave voltammetry (SWV), and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), making it highly adaptable for diverse electrochemical applications. UTL-Stat integrates a low-power Bluetooth CC2642R chip as its central control unit and an AD5941 analog front end, featuring a 16-bit ADC resolution and a sampling rate of 400 kSPS for high-speed data acquisition. This capability enables real-time electrochemical analysis and fast redox reaction studies. Utilizing Bluetooth 5.2, the device allows users to configure measurements and analyze data via a mobile application, facilitating seamless wireless operation. Compared to the commercially available PalmSens4 potentiostat, UTL-Stat demonstrates a sevenfold reduction in volume, a tenfold reduction in weight, and a cost reduction to 45 USD, while maintaining high measurement accuracy. Based on performance across multiple electrochemical techniques, it achieves a sensitivity of 1.4315 mA/M and an accuracy exceeding 90 %, validating its reliability in quantitative electrochemical analysis. Additionally, its low power consumption (66 mW) enhances portability and battery efficiency. This platform holds substantial promise for advancing Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) biosensing applications and supporting broader research in electrochemical sensor technology. Its combination of affordability, high analytical precision, and advanced wireless functionality establishes UTL-Stat as an accessible yet powerful tool for next-generation electrochemical sensing.
