Growth of Vertical Forest-like Arrangement Carbon Nanotube Using CVD Technique
Vertically aligned carbon nanotubes (VACNTs) were synthesized by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique using acetylene and H 2 as the carbon source and inert gas, respectively. Nickel was deposited as the catalyst using magnetron sputtering technique on the SiO 2 buffer layer. Raman spectrum showed disordered groups (D bands) in the 1350–1360[Formula: see text]cm[Formula: see text] range, indicative of [Formula: see text] hybridization and the peaks corresponding to tangential modes (G bands) in the 1380–1390[Formula: see text]cm[Formula: see text] range suggest [Formula: see text] hybridization confirming formation of carbon nanotubes. Also, FESEM images confirmed the pristine structure of multi-walled carbon nanotubes remains intact, forming a vertical forest-like arrangement at both micro- and nanoscales.
