Procreation and the Value of the Genetic Connection
ABSTRACT Persistent racial inequality in liberal democratic societies raises the question of whether states should radically reshape the institution of the family in order to break the connection between race and socio‐economic disadvantage. In this essay I inquiry into the value of the genetic connection to make progress on this question. I argue that although there is no moral right to parent one's genetic offspring, children have several interests that would be violated in a world where integration policy is employed to radically reshape the family.
