DISTRIBUIÇÃO GEOGRÁFICA DOS ACIDENTES DE TRÂNSITO NA CIDADE DE ARAXÁ – MG
With population growth, there is an evident increase in the demand for transportation, which also increases the number of accidents. Some accidents are responsible for human and material losses and therefore their incidence should be reduced. Given the importance of preserving human life and reducing the occurrence of traffic accidents, this study aimed to verify the locations of accidents in the city of Araxá-MG, using a geographic information system to verify the most critical locations. The research consisted of collecting accident data, tabulating and grouping them to generate a heat map to verify the sections where the most accidents occurred. With the field inspection of these locations, it was found that some points have several problems in the pavement and signage, evidencing the need for urgent intervention. Although some points do not present problems related to pavement and signage, educational measures for drivers and greater monitoring are extremely important.
