An experimental study on interfacial tension of pressure decreasing injection agents for low-permeability oil reservoirs

Surfactants are amphipathic substances that have a significant ability to reduce the interfacial tension between oil and water, and they are widely used in industrial production. In this paper, four kinds of amphipathic surfactants were synthesized in the laboratory, and 16 common surfactants from the categories of cationic, anionic, nonionic, and amphoteric were selected for preliminary screening. It was found that cationic and nonionic surfactants could effectively reduce the interfacial tension between oil and water. Further, the two types of surfactants were compounded, resulting in six improved compound systems. Through interfacial tension and anti-swelling performance tests, the compound system C12TAB+C16TAB+14-4-14 was selected as the formula for the injection pressure enhancement agent, providing technical guidance for the low permeability M oilfield to use surfactants for the third oil recovery.
