Building Sustainable Credit Cooperative Through School Community Extension Program
Objectives: The study aims to assess the feasibility of establishing a sustainable credit cooperative and identify the challenges involved. It examines the impact of credit cooperatives on community development, financial inclusion, and educational outcomes while evaluating respondents' perspectives on management, marketing, technical, and financial aspects. Methods: The research employs surveys and interviews with elected officials, educators, and community leaders to analyze management efficiency, market engagement, technical capabilities, and financial stability. It also assesses the role of schools in supporting and sustaining credit cooperatives and identifies key challenges in socio-cultural, economic, regulatory, and geographic aspects. Results: Findings indicate that credit cooperatives contribute positively to community development and financial inclusion, with schools playing a crucial role in their sustainability by providing a stable membership base. Strong management, marketing strategies, technical capabilities, and financial stability enhance the cooperative's success. However, challenges such as socio-cultural differences, economic constraints, regulatory requirements, and geographic barriers were identified. Conclusion: The study concludes that with proper management, marketing strategies, and financial planning, credit cooperatives can be sustainable. Additionally, overcoming socio-cultural, economic, regulatory, and geographic challenges is essential for long-term success, as these cooperatives significantly contribute to economic development, legal compliance, and stronger community ties.
