Odontogenic Myxoma of Maxilla: An Unusual Case
Odontogenic myxomas (OMs) are rare, slow-growing, locally aggressive tumors commonly seen in the mandible, followed by the maxilla accounting for 3%–6% of all odontogenic tumors. Due to its unspecific nature and characteristics overlapping with other benign and some malignant tumors, OM should be diagnosed after thorough history and clinical, radiographical, and histopathological examinations, and a proper treatment and follow-up protocol be devised in view of the high recurrence rate. We present such a rare case of odontogenic myxoma of the right maxilla in a 16-year-old male infiltrating the maxillary sinus in a short duration.
