An integrated topology of bridgeless converter with a single inductor

This paper presents an integrated topology for a single-stage bridgeless power factor corrected (PFC) AC-DC converter. The proposed topology is based on integrating two non-inverting buck-boost dc-dc converters with a common inductor. In addition, the proposed converter is equipped with an input filter designed to assure minimum voltage stress on the different converter components, acceptable input current THD, and unity supply power factor (PF) under a wide load range. The suggested converter offers various advantages such as utilizing an appropriate count of components, soft starting ability, and high efficiency. The operating modes and steady-state performance of the suggested converter have been studied. Moreover, the design criteria for the input filter is presented. Furthermore, small-signal analysis is presented for the suggested converter. As the suggested converter works in discontinuous current mode (DCM) to perform unity PF, the developed model is derived using a modified state space averaged method. To assess the dynamic response of the proposed converter and verify its model accuracy, the proposed converter is simulated. Finally, a 400 W prototype of the proposed converter is developed to experimentally validate its different features.
