Embodying knowledge
Recent Global South perspectives understand the global extractive system as a monoculture resulting from a history of violent and unbalanced relations. By analysing the work of Aymara-Bolivian sociologist and activist-scholar Silvia Rivera Cusicanqui (b. La Paz 1949), this paper will argue that, by embedding human subjectivity within a network of dynamic relationships between the past and the future, Rivera Cusicanqui’s ecology of Andean knowledges makes it possible to envisage human history within a long-time framework of planetary history.
