A Compact MIMO CPW Monopole Antenna with High Isolation for 4G/5G Applications
A compact Co-Planar Waveguide (CPW)v monopole MIMO antenna is proposed for portable devices, offering a compact size and high isolation. The antenna can resonate at a center frequency of 2.1 GHz and has a range of 150 MHz bandwidth. By implementing the proposed Frequency Selective Surface (FSS) structure, the MIMO antenna obtains a significant reduction of 86% in its dimensions, resulting in a compact size of 34×50×1.6 mm. Despite this reduction, the MIMO antenna maintains a high isolation level, with |S12| less than -20 dB within the operating frequency range. Also, the antenna performance with and without applying FSS structure has been implemented. The proposed MIMO antenna is a strong contender for 4G, and 5G applications such as bands of LTE, and n34.
