Design of a High-Gain Microstrip Patch Antenna with Low Cross-Polarization
This paper proposes a simple design of a microstrip patch antenna with high-gain and low cross-polarization charac-teristics. The high-gain property is achieved by employing higher order mode operation, and the slots are etched to the primary radiator for sidelobe-level compensation. Furthermore, for cross polarization suppression, the differential feeding technique is also applied. The proposed design resonates at 4.2 Hz, offering a high gain of over 12 dBi. More importantly, the level of cross polarization is reduced to an extremely small value of -53 dB, which makes the antenna a promising solution for mid- and long- range communications.
