Enhanced AODV Routing Protocol using Probabilistic Load-Balanced Multipath in Mobile Ad-hoc Networks

Ad-hoc On-Demand Distance Vector Routing (AODV) is one of the popular protocols used to manage routing and data direction in MANET, a wireless network that suitable for applications such as healthcare, smart transportation, military, smart cities and Internet of Things (IoT). Although the AODV protocol operates on an on-demand response mechanism, the random movement of mobile devices in MANET causes network links to change continuously, creating challenges in finding alternative routes, route recovery and load balancing. In that context, Probabilistic Load-Balanced Multipath AODV (PLBM-AODV) routing protocol is our research proposal to improve the responsiveness of MANET networks, through the load balancing mechanism, based on probability and establish multiple routes to the destination for quick recovery when needed. We built a tool, called autosim, for conducting simulations and synthesizing data automatically to efficiently gather simulation data from NS2 using awk script and bash shell program. Numerical analysis shows that the new routing protocol has improved the efficiency of the MANET network, and this proposal contributes to improving the performance and quality of communication of the network.
