Help! My parents are normies: family friends, GPS, and the World Economic Forum

Many of us know we can never understand everything, but for some this is unacceptable and solutions must be found; for two of my parents' friends, the world makes sense, but the globalists try to hide it from us.I will offer a retelling of a family holiday (as it was reported to me by my family) wherein my parents and sister visited some family friends who have now become adherents to popular conspiracy theories. The vignettes will be interjected with brief explanations and theorisations of the different conspiracy theories deployed and trace these through broader developments in far-right politics. These family friends displayed an apparent unawareness of the origins of certain terms, such as 'normie' and 'globalist', and how these relate to broader far-right racist and misogynist narratives, yet these friends considered themselves to be 'left wing'.Thus, I offer a story of how family friends became adherents of far-right conspiracy theories and relayed them to those that they considered to be ignorant of the 'truth'.I will conclude with a brief discussion on metapolitics and how the far-right is quietly succeeding in promoting its language and extending its reach to individuals who would never consider themselves hold such politics.
