Implementation of an FPGA-Based Modem for Gbps High-Speed Wireless Data Transmission

This paper presents the design and implementation of a high-speed wireless transmission modem on FPGA, tailored for Gbps-level transmission of high-resolution, large-volume data, such as UAV surveillance information. Our modem achieves enhanced transmission performance and reduced hardware complexity by partitioning complex LDPC blocks into smaller parallel units with short LDPC codes, setting it apart from conventional DVB-S2 systems. Experimental results validate a transmission rate of 3.1 Gbps and a spectral efficiency of 3.1 bps/Hz, with a low implementation loss of 1.4 dB. Our design and implementation meet high-speed data link requirements, providing a lightweight and efficient solution for advanced surveillance and reconnaissance systems.
